Being Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transsexual is difficult in a country like Nepal where the society finds it hard to sink in the fact that you are not straight. But things are changing, slow and steady.[break]
So we asked, what would you do if you found out that your friend is gay on our Facebook page and this is what we got.
Kuber Sodari, promptly, said, “As far as I see this shouldn´t be a matter of astonishment in the 21st century. I think people have moved ahead and accepted the fact that any one of us can be gay.
For me, I would take my friend as normal whether s/he is gay or not. Friendship doesn’t change.” Sodari is also of the thought that there has been enough media exposure (on television, papers, radio) about sexual preferences and how it is okay to be what you like and that it shouldn’t be a problem accepting someone for who they are.
Rupak Raj Sunuwar, on the other hand, has been through a similar experience. He says, “I was in one of those situations and I didn’t really care whether my friend was gay or not. I wasn’t surprised and I thought it’s their choice to choose who to love and who not to.”
Srijana Gurung too is of the thought that it’s not a big thing keeping in mind the current scenario and that she would accept the openness of her friend and take it normally.
