School in Myagdi receives Rs 10.15m in donation

MYAGDI, MAY 29: Some locals of Dana VDC of Myagdi district, who are currently residing in the UK, have collected Rs 10.15 million through charity shows for a local school in their village. The amount has been transferred to the district's education development fund.

The district's Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur KC held a press conference in Beni on Friday and handed over the fund to the school management. Gyan Prakash Higher Secondary School (HSS) is the only school in the village.

"This shows how much the youth from the village living in UK love their village," said KC, adding the funds will be utilized to solve most of the problems of the school. The amount would be used for building infrastructure for the school and paying teachers' salaries, among others.Gyan Prakash HSS is the only school in the village and has been reeling under severe financial crisis. According to Bal Bahadur Purja, chairman of "Friendly Brothers Dana Serofero Samaj", the amount was collected through various charity works for the school as its students were suffering badly due to financial crisis. "We are still collecting funds. We are hopeful it'll ease the school's problems," he added.
