KATHMANDU, July 15: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday seeking an order for the government to clear way for appointments in the constitutional bodies by enacting separate laws that does not require appointees to the bodies to face parliamentary hearing in an exceptional situation.

Lawyer Rajesh Silwal, in his petition, has argued that it was essential to issue the order as parliamentary hearings for constitutional appointments could not be carried out in the present situation as there is no parliament. [break]

The writ petitioner has claimed that people would be deprived of the right to justice with more than fifty percent of the posts of justices in the apex court remaining vacant.

There can be no reappointments or new appointments of temporary justices as per the existing law.
