KATHMANDU, Sept. 23: The government has appointed Santosh Shrestha as chairperson of the Advertising Board Nepal for a term of up to four years.
Shrestha, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, took the oath of office and secrecy before Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina on Wednesday.

Timilsina directed the newly appointed chairperson to work effectively to regulate, manage and reform the advertising sector. He stressed the need for transparent and objective distribution of public welfare advertisements and effective implementation of existing laws and regulations.
Shrestha pledged to prioritize the effective implementation of advertising-related policies and laws and prepare a new action plan to reform the sector.
Shrestha, a former president of the Advertising Association of Nepal, has extensive experience in advertising and communications. He has also taught at educational institutions including King’s College and Kathmandu Don Bosco College in Kathmandu.
