KATHMANDU: Santosh Narayan Shrestha, chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), has resigned from his post.
He submitted his resignation to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle late on Friday. Earlier the same day, Shrestha had announced his decision to step down during a Board meeting.

Arriving at the ministry with his resignation letter, Shrestha said he had resigned voluntarily, adding that he chose to “pave the way” in support of the government’s work.
A cabinet meeting led by then Prime Minister K P Oli had appointed Shrestha as SEBON Chairperson on November 25, 2024. He led the capital market regulator for 17 months amid ongoing controversy surrounding his tenure.
