KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee member Nabindra Raj Joshi has argued that ruling parties should now accept the proposal made by opposition parties to resolve the ongoing political parties as all the proposals floated by ruling UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have gone in vain.

Addressing a function organized to release a concept paper on strengthening of Nepal Students Union along with its political and educational perspectives authored by former NSU general secretary Neel Kantha Rijal, Joshi argued that there was no consensus even as opposition parties agreed to the proposal of the ruling parties as the latter started raising unnecessary conditions to prolong their stay in power. “The Maoists will be finished off because they are attempting to end democracy and impose totalitarianism in the country,” he said.[break]

Addressing the function, former president of NSU Guru Raj Ghimire argued that parties failed to reach consensus as all parties are following the proposals floated by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He also asked opposition parties to come up with new proposal which could end the prolonged deadlock.

Likewise, another former NSU president Kalyan Gurung said the country will have to face difficult time if people are unable to fight against those advocating totalitarianism in the country. The author of the concept paper Rijal called for the need to restructure the NSU that NSU leaders and cadres need training and orientation.
