KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has announced that she will not join the cabinet to be formed under newly-appointed interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
Speaking live on Facebook on Saturday, Shrestha dismissed speculation surrounding her, saying, “Please don’t be misled by rumors. I am not joining the cabinet.” Wishing success to the Karki-led government, she emphasized that politics should be about service, not power and about work, not recognition.

The former Education Minister added, “The funerals of our young brothers and sisters are not yet over. This change has come through their sacrifice. Those of us who have already had the opportunity to serve should not dream of becoming ministers again.”
She further underlined that the sacrifices of the youth were for a change in political culture and that the focus should remain on institutionalizing that change. Speculation about her possible entry into the government had arisen after she attended Prime Minister Karki’s swearing-in ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Friday evening.
