KATHMANDU, Dec 18: The case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane and former Gorkha Media Managing Director Chhabilal Joshi—both currently in custody on charges of cooperative fraud and organised crime—has been listed for hearing at the High Court’s No. 1 bench today at Butwal.
According to court information officer Ram Bahadur Kunwar, the case will be heard by a joint bench of Judges Basudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Poudel.

The hearing had been deferred last week after being marked “not fit for hearing,” while earlier proceedings were twice halted following applications by Lamichhane’s legal team.
Lamichhane, who remains in judicial custody in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal, was denied release by Rupandehi District Court judge Narayan Sapkota on August 26, despite depositing the amount of embezzlement attributed to him.
Challenging the district court’s order, Lamichhane filed an appeal at the High Court on September 9 to fight the case out of prison.
