KATHMANDU, April 16: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Rupandehi District Court to digitize and upload all documents related to the Supreme Cooperative fraud case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane. The apex court issued the directive after hearing Lamichhane’s petition challenging a prior detention order by the Butwal Bench of the High Court.
During the hearing held on April 13, Justice Tek Prasad Dhungana instructed the Butwal High Court to submit a clarification report and simultaneously directed the district court to scan and upload all case files into the judicial system’s software within 15 days of receiving the order.

Traditionally, when a detainee files a petition, higher courts request the original case file from lower courts. This often delays proceedings at the district level. The SC’s latest move aims to prevent such disruptions by keeping the original files at the district court while making digital versions available for higher-level review.
