Rs 386.26 m Indian aid for embankment construction

KATHMANDU, April 7: The government of India has provided assistance of Rs 386.26 million for building embankment along the Lalbakeya, the Bagmati and the Kamala Rivers in Nepal.



The cheque was handed over to Minister for Irrigation Umesh Yadav by the ambassador of India to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, on Wednesday.

With the present assistance, the total grant assistance for embankment construction along these rivers stands at over Rs 4 billion, according to the press statement issued by the Embassy of India on Thursday.


"India remains committed to continue working closely with Nepal for further cooperation in the field of water resources, including the river training works on other rivers," read the statement.
