KATHMANDU, May 9: The westerly low-pressure system and local winds continue to influence weather conditions across Nepal. A low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of the country has also affected the weather, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
At present, the weather is generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall is occurring in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, while light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been reported in one or two places of Madhesh, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, the MFD said.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions and partly cloudy in the Terai.
The MFD has forecast moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places of the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in similar regions of the remaining provinces.
There is also a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the Terai region.
According to the MFD, tonight’s weather will remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will witness partly cloudy conditions.
There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
