Revision of mass media policy on anvil

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Minister for Information and Communications Technology Sherdhan Rai has said that a taskforce comprising independent experts for the revision of National Mass Media Policy to ensure its consistency with the new constitution.

Receiving a memorandum handed over by a delegation of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Minster Rai informed that the process of forming the taskforce has been initiated to revise media policy in accordance with the changed context.


The Minister also shared that the process for the formation of National Mass Media Academy will also begin very soon.

He further said that a media museum would be set up to promote systematic archiving of history and important documents of Nepali media sector. Minister Rai expressed his confidence that he would take necessary initiatives for the implementation of the recommendations of the Working Journalists Minimum Wage Fixation Committee and journalists code of conduct.

FNJ Chair Dr Mahendra Bista-led delegation had handed over a 17-point memorandum to the Minister. RSS
