Export of refined oil surges via Birgunj

The export of refined oil to India has gradually improved.

BIRGUNJ, Feb 5:  Export of refined soybean and sunflower oil has surged through the Birgunj checkpoint in the first six months of the current Fiscal Year (FY).


According to Amit Tiwari, Information Officer at Birgunj Customs Office, a total of 560.66 million liters of refined soybean oil, valued at Rs 11.99 billion, was exported during this period. This marks a significant increase compared to the 111.11 million liters worth Rs 111 million exported in the same period last FY.

“The export of refined oil to India has gradually improved,” said Tiwari, highlighting the ease of trade with the neighboring country.


Additionally, 22.845 million liters of refined sunflower oil, worth Rs 3.219 billion, were exported in the first six months of the current FY. In the same period last FY, Rs 99.41 billion worth of sunflower oil was exported, according to the customs data.
