Rayamajhi carded four-over 37 on the front nine and added three-over 37 on the back nine on Thursday to register three-stroke win over Om Thakuri and Bhuwan Gurung. Rayamajhi received the trophy and cash prize of Rs 6,000. [break]
Thakuri and overnight leader Gurung finished joint second with the total score of 225. They earned Rs 2,000 each. Thakuri carded six-over 73, while Gurung scored 13-over 80 on the final day.
Sunil Mizar came fourth at 227 and Bishnu KC was fifth at 228. The top five players also earned the pro-card and are now eligible to participate in the remaining eight tournaments under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2012-13.
A total of 21 players took part in the 54-hole event. NPGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya handed over the prizes to the winners.
Earlier, NPGA used to allow amateurs to turn pro and participate in the Surya Nepal Golf Tour but from now onwards every aspiring pro golfer must come through the Qualifying School to be a member of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour and to participate in professional golf tournaments.
PGTI Players Championship
Nepal No 1 professional golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha carded even-par 72 at the Golden Green Golf Club, Gurgaon, India on Thursday to climb two spots up on the leader-board of PGTI Players Championship.
Shrestha will start last round on Friday from the fourth position with a total score of three-under 213. Om Prakash Chouhan of India, who also played even-par on Thursday, led the leader-board with a total of six-under 210. Mukesh Kumar and MD Sanju shared second place with a total of five-under 211.
Shamim Khan shared fourth place with Shrestha.
