According to the results of the elections held for a new executive committee of the Chautari at its seventh national convention here on Saturday night, Durga Prasad Sharma was elected the senior Vice-chair, Madhav Nepal the General Secretary, Shanti Gurung the women Chairperson and Biswamani Subedi the Treasurer of the 59-member committee. The five secretaries elected include Ganesh Pandey, Tika Bista, Rajesh Rai, Narendra Saud and Ram Kumar Elan.
Likewise, the Vice-chairs elected by the convention include Kushal Babu Basnet (eastern region), Upendra KC (central), Mukesh Pokharel (western), Surendra Kafley (mid-western) and Rajendra Bista (far-western).
Meanwhile, UML leader Oli, today, welcomed and congratulated the new committee of Press Chautari Nepal elected from its seventh national convention and urged the newly elected officials to work actively to discourage the malpractices appearing in the whole press sector.
UML leader also suggested the journalists to write for the social transformation and for democratic system.
He further said the UML was always for press freedom, adding that the Press Chautari should run a national level media developing it as a well-organized force of the press.
During the programme, the newly elected President of the Press Chautari, Rajendra Aryal, expressed his commitment to reach Press Chautari in the leading position from the upcoming election of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and work for the welfare of the working journalists.
