KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane was released from custody on Friday after posting bail of Rs 37.48 million at the Rupandehi District Court in Bhairahawa.
Court officials said Lamichhane appeared in person and submitted a bank guarantee equivalent to the bail amount, following which he was released.

On Thursday, the Butwal bench of the High Court Tulsipur ordered Lamichhane’s release, accepting his request to remain free during trial by depositing the claimed embezzlement amount.
Of the total bail, Rs 27.48 million relates to the amount claimed in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case involving Lamichhane, while an additional Rs 10 million was set as a separate bail condition during the district court proceedings.
With the payment of the full amount, Lamichhane has been granted release pending further legal proceedings.
