KATHMANDU, May 25: The government has appointed Joint Secretary Mukesh Dangol as the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
Sasmit Pokharel, spokesperson for the government, informed that a Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to appoint Dangol to lead the regulatory body of the aviation sector. Currently, Dangol is serving as a joint secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

In November 2025, Dangol assumed the topmost position of the CAAN for two weeks by the incumbent government led by Sushila Karki after a corruption case was filed against the then CAAN Chief Pradeep Adhikari. The government has appointed Dangol in the position out of 21 applicants in the race.
