KATHMANDU, May 25: Prime Minister Balen Shah will address the public whenever necessary, said Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel.
Speaking to the media while publicizing Cabinet decisions on Monday, Minister Pokharel, who is also the government’s spokesperson, said the issue of the Prime Minister’s address on Republic Day was not discussed in the cabinet meeting.
“Discussions on that issue were not held in today’s Cabinet meeting. However, the Prime Minister will address the public whenever necessary,” he said in response to questions from journalists about reports that the Prime Minister would not speak during Republic Day celebrations.

According to the minister, the government is currently focused on preparations for the upcoming fiscal year budget and implementation of its first 100-day action plan, resulting in a heavy workload.
He added that the Prime Minister would express his views at an appropriate time and as required.
Earlier, reports had circulated that Prime Minister Shah would not deliver a speech during the special Republic Day ceremony scheduled to be held at Tundikhel on May 29.
