Quake causes damage to government offices; public service in quandary

LAHAN, May 20: The April 25 devastating earthquake and subsequent recurring aftershocks have caused damages to the structure of over half a dozen government offices, throwing public service to quandary.

After damages to the buildings, employees of some of the government offices are working in the open while some others are compelled to carry out their works inside the office with fear psychology.

Among the public offices suffering damages in Siraha are District Administration Office, Chief District Office's residence, District Development Committee, Treasury and Accounts Control Office, District Forest Office, District Technical Office and Lahan-based building of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, according to Siraha CDO Abdul Kalam Khan.



He further said that directive was issued to ensure smooth work operation by bringing employees of the offices in trouble to other safer places.
The recommendation for repair and reconstruction of the damaged buildings will be made after the technical team assessed quake-triggered loss in the district offices and submitted its report, CDO Khan said. RSS
