TAPLEJUNG, March 10: The Mukkumlung Tansep Chumpho and the Mukkumlung Conservation Inter-Party Struggle Committee have jointly announced the programs for the third phase of their movement.
At a press conference held on Monday, they stated that the upcoming movement will include public gatherings, mass meetings, hunger strikes, and strikes.
From March 28 to April 4, organizers will conduct a village awareness campaign in 14 districts, along with meetings with the individuals injured and with arrest warrants from the clashes between security forces and the agitating indigenous individuals. During this time, they will form a volunteer team focused on Taplejung.
The movement will begin its programs on March 12 in Kathmandu with a gathering of intellectuals from the valley. The movement’s activities will unfold in phases. On March 15, organizers will distribute information letters about the Mukkumlung Conservation Movement to political parties, as well as provincial and federal lawmakers. On March 16, they will send similar letters to the legislative, executive, and judiciary branches.
Bheri-Babai Project: Third phase work begins

From March 17 to 25, conservation leaders and activists will hold a gathering and discussion program. On March 19, they will organize an interfaith coordination meeting, and on March 20, they will send information letters about the movement to international organizations.
As a part of the movement, they will hold a Mukkumlung conference in Dharan on March 15, and a relay hunger strike will begin in Phungling, Taplejung, on March 16.
On March 16, a Zoom meeting will announce the names of those arrested and those with arrest warrants. Additionally, on February 22, a press conference will provide international information about the incident, with the injured present.
On March 17, organizers will hold a symbolic one-day closure of the Asian Highway (in Koshi Province). On March 19, demonstrators will surround Singhadurbar in Kathmandu, and on March 21, a photo exhibition showcasing the events of the Mukkumlung movement will take place.
Public protests and mass meetings will take place in Lahan, Janakpur, and Lalbandi on March 22, 23, and 24. A meeting with poets and writers will also be held on March 22.
On April 6, public protests and mass meetings will be organized in 14 districts of Eastern Nepal. From April 7, participants will impose an indefinite transport strike in the 14 districts of Eastern Nepal, although they have stated that they may adjust the timing based on the circumstances.
Participants in the movement have committed to advancing the issue of Mukkumlung conservation through these programs.
