Addressing a program organized by the Ganeshman Singh and People's Movement Memorial Peace Foundation on the occasion of the Ganeshman Singh Birth Centenary Year here today, the President wished that may this occasion inspire all those who contributed to the institutionalizing the federal democratic republic by following on the trail blazed by the martyrs.
"The country has entered the phase of implementing the constitution," the Head of the State said, adding that true tributes to the late Ganeshman and the immortal martyrs would be only when the unity and collaboration of all the political forces is given continuity to resolving the problems and difficulties seen presently through talks and dialogue.
President Bhandari said it is known to all that the federal democratic republic in the country was established on the basis of unity and collaboration among the political parties and that we got success in issuing the Constitution of Nepal by ending the complex and long drawn out transition by means of the prudent unity and collaboration among the pro-change political forces.
"The contribution of the late Ganeshman and the immortal martyrs and their life philosophy are the sources of inspiration for all," President Bhandari said, adding that a lot of works remained to be carried out to fulfill their unfulfilled dreams by recalling and respecting their contribution," the President said.
Similarly, former Speaker Subas Nembang said the new constitution was promulgated through the Constituent Assembly after all the democratic forces came together, adding that there was still challenge to implement it.
Nembang said that although electoral competition was minor in democracy, he was not happy with the major pro-change parties parting way.
Likewise, Nepali Congress General Secretary, Prakashman Singh, talked about the contribution of Ganeshman Singh and Girija Prasad Koirala for institutionalising democratic norms and values and stressed the need of being self-dependent to settle different problems like border blockade forever.
Singh further said that economic revolution was necessary to make the country self-reliant as all leaders should come together for the same.
NC leader Sujata Koirala, Foundation President and NC leader Bhimsen Das Pradhan, founder President of the Foundation, Tirtha Raj Dhungel, among others pointed out the need of unity and collaboration among all parties to resolve the existing problem of the country.
On the occasion, President Bhandari honored former Speaker Nembang for his contribution to promulgate the new constitution by collaborating and coordinating with the political parties and the government. RSS
