KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Sunil Bahadur Thapa, political adviser to President Ram Chandra Paudel, has resigned from his post nearly three years after his appointment.
According to Thapa, he tendered his resignation on November 28, which was accepted the same day. He has since been visiting Shital Niwas only to hand over responsibilities and related documents.

Thapa stepped down from the post with the intention of returning to active politics including preparing for his party’s upcoming general convention and pursuing a election bid in the National Assembly election.
The son of late former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, Sunil Thapa had earlier left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and joined the Nepali Congress (NC) along with his group.
He was appointed as a joint- general secretary at the time of his entry into the party and was later elected as a central working committee member from the NC’s 14th general convention.
