Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is quietly working out the preparation of the visit in coordination with Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. "The visit will last for around four to five days," said a source.[break]
The president´s press advisor Rajendra Dahal confirmed the visit, but said that he was unaware of other details, including the date of the visit. Sources at the President´s Office said Yadav will first reach Varanasi, where he will attend a convocation ceremony of Banaras Hindu University. The university is scheduled to confer on him an honorary title of D Litt.
The president will then fly to New Delhi, where he will undergo health checkup and hold meetings with political leaders. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
This is President Yadav´s third visit to India. Earlier, he had visited India on February 15, 2010. The four-day visit was made keeping with the tradition of regular high-level interaction between the two countries.
Likewise, the president was on a 10-day visit to India in January end of 2011 in the course of attending an anniversary function of a medical college in Calcutta, where he received his MBBS degree.
