President Paudel approves mobilization of army personnel for by-elections security

KATHMANDU, April 25: President Ram Chandra Paudel has approved the deployment of the Nepal Army personnel to ensure security during the upcoming by-elections.

KATHMANDU, April 25: President Ram Chandra Paudel has approved the deployment of the Nepal Army personnel to ensure security during the upcoming by-elections.


Following the recommendation from the National Security Council and the decision of the Council of Ministers to guarantee free and fair elections, President Paudel approved the deployment of the army.

The by-elections are scheduled for April 27 for the members of the House of Representatives in Ilam Constituency-2 and the Provincial Assembly in Bajhang Provincial Assembly Constituency-1.


The Election Commission has imposed a silence period for 48 hours before the voting day, which means since midnight on April 24. The period will end only after the completion of vote counting.
