KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The Election Commission has put forward a process for determining percentage towards proportional representation based on demographic composition. 



As per the arrangement specified in the House of Representatives (HoR) Member Electoral Constituency, the percentage is being determined for Dalit, indigenous nationalities, Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, and Muslim groups.

A committee has been formed under the coordination of Subhash Kumar Bhattarai, under-secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, with representatives from the Election Commission, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the National Statistics Office. 


The committee has been tasked with determining the inclusive basis percentage based on the national census and submitting a report within three days, EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed. 


The commission is preparing to determine the percentage based on the population according to the National Census 2078 BS.
