According to the organizers, the event will gather representatives from the Ministry of Education, local governments, universities, teachers’ associations, organizations of persons with disabilities, parent and community networks, as well as private-sector institutions.
The gathering seeks to jointly identify the barriers hindering the implementation of inclusive education in Nepal and develop strategies to address them.
Ram Tiwari, director of Inclusive Education Nepal, said the Summit marks “an important milestone in Nepal’s education sector, as all stakeholders collectively work to translate the country’s policy commitments into real practices through a nationwide movement for meaningful change.”
Tiwari added that sustainable change is possible only when government and non-government sectors work hand in hand toward that goal.
The Summit’s conclusions are expected to contribute to the development of a national roadmap to strengthen inclusive education across Nepal, the organizers said.
