Police, protesters clash in Rautahat, warning shots fired

GAUR, Dec 20: Cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have pelted stones targeting police personnel at BP Chowk of the district headquarters on Sunday.

Police fired two rounds of bullets in air and lobbed five shells of teargas to disperse agitators.


Situation is tense after protesters pelted stone and hurled glass bottles at police in the area between District Police Office and BP Chowk. Police chased away agitators who had reached near the police office.

Police had asked the protesters to keep their protest peaceful.

Earlier, the law enforcement agency had warned that it will be forced to open fire if stone-pelting continues.



Some 11 police personnel and one agitator was injured in clashes here on Saturday.
