KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said that people would be greatly disappointed if the UML-led government failed to carry out some positive works.

He asserted that the government was taking different steps for the prosperity and progress of the country despite the adverse situation caused by earthquake, the border blockade and the ongoing Tarai protest.

He directed the party lawmakers to work as per the aspiration of the people as the party was in a decisive position and in power. Prime Minister Oli clarified that they could not make any decisions that could result negative impact to the nation and national integrity.

In another context, PM Oli said to raise the issue of democratization of the Nepal Army was irrelevant as it was a professional organization.

In the meeting, party senior leader Jhalnatah Khanal suggested the party leaders to be alert during the ongoing dialogues with the disgruntled forces as the conspiracy to divide the nation in the name of hill, mountain and Tarai was seen elsewhere.

Likewise, party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal stressed on holding discussions in the three parties' meeting scheduled for today, adding that Nepali Congress may create unnecessary hassles about the constitution amendment bill tabled in the parliament.

Party Vice-chair and Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal had briefed about the progress about the ongoing talks with Tarai parties.

Party statue amendment taskforce

The meeting has formed a party statute amendment taskforce under the convenorship of chief whip Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.

The committee comprises leaders Gokul Gharti, Dr Banshidhar Mishra, Shiv Kumari Gotame and Anarkali Minya.

The taskforce is assigned to submit its report within January 24. Similarly, the meeting assigned chief whip and whip to prepare name list for the formation of Party Parliamentary Board. RSS
