The All Nepal Table Tennis Association (ANTTA) organized a competition in Kathmandu from April 24 to 27, where Nepal won a total of 12 medals-1 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. In the U-19 boys' team event, the Nepali team - Pravesh Basnet, Gananjay Dahal, Himal Bista, and Rubin Maharjan - secured the gold medal.
Prime Minister Oli watched the players and played table tennis with them briefly. He also awarded cash prizes on the spot to the outstanding and participating players from his own funds.
The association’s Vice President Purnashankar Shrestha hoped that table tennis would bring better results for the country in the future, now that the prime minister has shown support for the sport for the first time.
The ANTTA’s secretary and team manager of the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Competition, Rajendra Bahadur Dulal, urged the government to provide support so that parents of young players no longer have to pay fees themselves when their children participate internationally.
