Petition filed at Patan court to keep Lamichhane and three others in detention

The High Government Attorney's Office, Patan, filed the case on Sunday, seeking to quash the Kathmandu District Court’s order to release him on a bail of Rs 6 million and send him back to detention.

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: A petition has been filed in the Patan High Court demanding that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and three others be kept in detention.


The High Government Attorney's Office, Patan, filed the case on Sunday, seeking to quash the Kathmandu District Court’s order to release him on a bail of Rs 6 million and send him back to detention.

In the case of the fraud charges against Swarnalaxmi Cooperative, four individuals were ordered to be released on bail. However, the high-ranking government attorney demanded to keep them in custody.  The three others include former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi, Audit Committee member Sunita Newa and Loan Sub-Committee member Kamal Lama.


Earlier, the Kaski District Court had ordered Lamichhane to be released on a bail of Rs 6.5 million. However, a case has been filed in the High Court in Pokhara against that order. 


In the case of the fraud involving Surya Darshan Cooperative, a petition has been filed demanding that they be kept in custody for further investigation.
