LAHORE, Jan 17: A 15-year-old boy, living in a town located 125 kilometers south of Lahore, recently severed his own hand in the belief that he had committed blasphemy.

In a shocking incident, police said the boy raised his hand by mistake after apparently mishearing the question posed by a local imam with regard to Prophet Mohammad.

The imam had reportedly asked whether anyone in the gathering had stopped praying, and police said that the boy raised his hand by mistake after apparently mishearing the question.

According to the Dawn, the crowd swiftly accused the boy of blasphemy.

So, in an act of atonement, the teen went home and chopped off his hand, returned and presented it to the cleric on a plate.

The incident took place at a village near Hujra Shah Muqeem town earlier this week.

A video is also reportedly in circulation that shows the boy being greeted by villagers in the street as his parents proclaim their pride.
