Opposition parties greet PM with black flags in Jumla

NEPALGUNJ, Sept 15: Opposition parties greeted Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai with black flags demanding his resignation in Jumla on Saturday.



CPN-Maoist leader Laxmikanya Budha informed Republica that they greeted PM with black flags as he failed to pave way for consensus and turned a deaf ear on rescue efforts in Kalikot accident. [break]



"Many would not have to loose their lives if they were rescued immediately from accident site," Buda said.



Police had to resort to baton-charge to disperse the protestors. Nepali Congress Jumla president Manav Sejuwal said that around a dozen of protestors were injured in the clash that erupted after Young Communist League cadres hurled stones on them.



Chopper, carrying PM to Jumla, has emergency landing



The helicopter carrying Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and high ranking government officials to Jumla has emergency landing on the bank of Rapti River at Kachanapur of Banke district on Saturday afternoon.



The chopper had forced landing due to inclement weather. PM Bhattarai was heading to Jumla as part of his regular schedule to spend a night in a village outside the capital. [break]



"Now we are returning to Nepalgunj. There it will be determined whether we will go ( to Jumla) after assessing weather conditions," Manrishi Dhital, a journalist in the PM´s team, said.
