Oppn parties hold meeting amid ruling parties’ push to oust Deputy Speaker

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Opposition parties convened a meeting after the ruling coalition began preparations to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana from her post.



The meeting, called by the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, included members from Rastriya Swatantra Party, CPN (Unified Socialist) and independent lawmakers.

Ruling parties are reportedly conducting a signature campaign to gather the two-thirds support needed to submit a formal notice to the Parliament Secretariat for her removal.
