BAITADI, June 23: The kala-azar (black fever) infection has been seen in different areas of the district. According to the health office, eight people have been infected with kala-azar.
Six patients of kalaazar found

Head of Baitadi health office, Yogesh Prasad Bhatta said that one person had died of Kala-azar a few months back. Till now, four people from Dashrath Chand Municipality, two from Surnaya Municipality and one each from Dogdakedar Municipality and Shivanath Rural Municipality have been infected with kala-azar. Among them, one person from Shivanath Municipality has died.
Health workers have stressed the need for paying attention to personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness since kala-azar is transmitted by the bite of a type of beetle. Public health inspector of the Health Office, Bhuwan Prasad Joshi said that the symptoms of kala-azar include high fever and various skin conditions.
