RAUTAHAT, July 5:  One person has been killed and more than a dozen others have been injured in a scuffle between police and locals at Mahamadpur of Rautahat district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as local Ramud Sah Kalawar. Police also fired six shots in the air and several tear gas canisters in bid to take the situation under control. The situation is still out of control. [break]

The clash ensued after police intervened while locals were protesting the arrest of a tractor driver in connection with a road accident a week ago, in which a motorcyclist had died after being hit by the tractor.
