Offers, discounts attract crowd at CAN Info-Tech

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Different companies and institutions have launched new products and lucrative offers to attract crowd at the ongoing CAN Info-Tech 2016.

Almost all the companies participating at the event have something to offer to the customers, be it new products, discounts or gift hampers.


Lord Buddha Education Foundation (LBEF) has introduced new courses -- BA in Business Management, with focus on computing courses' BSc in Information Technology (IT), BSc in IT with specialization in database administration, network computing and business information system -- affiliated to Asia Pacific University, Malaysia. The total cost of the three-year courses is Rs 500,000.

"We have also introduced short-term courses of two to three months like Python Developer, Digital Marketing Certification, Basics of Project Management, Basics of Cloud Computing, C# Developer, among others. We have been receiving good response for these courses," Richa Pradhan of LBEF told Republica.

LBEF is offering 15 percent discount on short term courses.

Similarly, Itel Communication has launched Triple Play service for the first time in Nepal. Under the service, customers can get 1 Mbps unlimited cable internet, 93 TV channels and Internet telephone at Rs 1,250, and 1Mbps FTTH internet, 93 TV channels and Internet telephone at Rs 1,350. For internet telephone, subscribers, however, will need to top up their balance. The company is also providing one month free service for all home Internet packages.

Chinese smartphone maker Huwaei is offering discounts of 5 to 10 percent on all its models. Every day, the company is providing handsets free of cost to two people who visit their stalls and fill up a designated form.

Likewise, Pashupati Tradelink, the authorized dealer of Micromax, has launched Canvas Pulse -- a 4G phone powered by 3GB RAM.

Nepal, the authorized dealer of Touchkon Mobiles, is providing 10 percent discount on its new phones -- M605g, M509, T707s and B25.

Digital Corner, a company providing hardware solutions, is providing laptops, CPU and other devices at heavily discounted prices.

Binod Dhakal, president of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation, the organizer of the event, said that the Info-Tech has become a platform for which the customers wait to buy latest products at affordable price while companies also wait to launch their latest products.

Sagar Infosys, authorized dealer of Brother in Nepal, has launched multi-functional DCP T 300 ink-tank printer. The printer allows printing, scanning and photocopy, according to the company. It provides ultra high yield of 6,000 pages for black ink and 5,000 pages for color ink. It is priced at Rs 25,500.

The company is also providing TotoLink's 150 Mbps and 300 Mbps routers at discounted price of Rs 3,200 and Rs 4,900, respectively.

Similarly, RainMakers Animation Academy has announced to provide jobs to 10 students who complete animation course at the academy. Tapas Joshi, managing director of the company, said that the students will be paid more than Rs 20,000 per month after successfully completing their course.
