KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued one-year treasury bills worth Rs 10 billion on Thursday for the sixth time in the past 11 days to manage excess liquidity in the banking system.
With this latest issuance, the central bank has floated treasury bills worth Rs 130 billion with a one-year maturity within 11 days. Banks have been invited to submit bids online for the bills.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
Commercial banks have been given time until 2:00 pm to submit their bids. The interest rate will be determined through a competitive bidding process, and investors will receive interest payments on a semi-annual basis.
NRB had earlier issued one-year treasury bills worth Rs 25 billion each on December 29, 31, January 6 and 8, followed by an issuance of Rs 20 billion on January 7.
