KATHMANDU, Nov. 8: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has warned LPG traders that they would face action if they failed to bring LP Gas cylinders with two colors in the market effective from November 16.

Acting Executive Director of NOC Suresh Kumar Agrawal said that the traders are obliged to bring LP gas cylinders with two colors as the NOC has already decided to distribute cylinders with red color for domestic and blue color for industrial purpose.

Speaking at an interaction on color classification and distribution of cooking gas organized by Consumers´ Network for Consumers Rights Protection, Agrawal urged one and all not to use the blue color gas cylinder for domestic purpose.

He also claimed that the price of petroleum products would be fixed based on the international market price, exchange rate of US dollar and local markets.

Agrawal also said that the NOC was currently incurring a loss of Rs 315 million every month.

Also speaking at the same programme, Director General of the Department of Standards and Metrology Ram Adhar Sah said use of two colors cylinders was at the interest of consumers and the state, and pledged timely market monitoring of the same.

However, Coordinator of the Network Prem Lal Maharjan said bringing the two colors cylinders in the market without certification from the Nepal Quality Control Council would invite technical problems, adding that no clear policy was prepared for the implementation of the decision.
