KATHMANDU, Oct 30: In view of the heavy rain forecasts and the risk of floods and landslides, the district administrations of Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli have banned nighttime vehicle movement on the BP Highway.
Kavre district administration announced that from 5 PM Thursday (October 30) to 6 AM Friday (October 31), traffic will be stopped between Bhanjhyang–Bhakundebesi towards Sindhuli. Similarly, Sindhuli district administration said that from 5 PM Thursday to 5 AM Friday, vehicles going from Khurkot Bazaar towards Kathmandu will not be allowed.

The restriction does not apply to ambulances and other emergency services.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) warned of heavy rainfall in Bagmati Province from October 30 to November 1, putting Sindhuli and Kavre at high risk of floods and landslides. Local government authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, especially at night and to stay alert near rivers and landslide-prone areas.
Local police and traffic authorities may stop vehicles during the day if needed. Disaster management teams, security agencies and local governments have been instructed to stay ready and road division offices are preparing equipment such as dozers and excavators for emergency use on BP and Araniko highways.
