KATHMANDU, April 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday nosedived by 33.33 points to close at 2,670.06 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,703.39 points and increased to the day’s high at 2,709.7 points in the first nine minutes, which was followed by a dramatic fall of 36 points in just the next 17 minutes. The index remained almost stable with minor fluctuations for the next three hours of trading. The market hit the day’s low at 2,668.35 points in the last 10 minutes in the intraday trading.

All the 13 groups were the losers. Non-life insurance plunged by the largest of 150.96 points, while trading, life-insurance, and manufacturing and processing also lost three-digit points in their indices.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 4.08 points. Daily turnover amount also fell to Rs 5.65 billion from Rs 7.84 billion on Thursday. The market remained closed on Sunday as the government announced a public holiday to mark Ram Nawami.
Among the individual companies, 23 were gainers while 221 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 503.60 million.
With a decline of 9.09 percent in its market value, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company was recorded as the biggest loser. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited gained 7.46 percent of its market value and stood as the topmost gainer.
