NEPSE falls 4 points as turnover reaches Rs 4.34 billion

KATHMANDU, June 12: Nepal’s stock market extended its losing streak on Friday, with the benchmark index declining by 4 points to close at 2,724.03.



The overall sentiment remained bearish as most sub-indices—except mutual funds, non-life insurance, “others,” and trading—recorded losses during the session.

A total of 167 listed companies saw their share prices decline, with Kalinchok Hydropower leading the losers, plunging 10.66 percent.


Meanwhile, 92 companies posted gains. Sopan Pharmaceuticals and Apollo Hydropower hit positive circuit limits, emerging as top gainers of the day.


Despite the index drop, market turnover increased compared to the previous trading session. Total transactions reached Rs 4.34 billion, up from Rs 3.90 billion on Thursday.


Among the most actively traded stocks, Central Finance recorded the highest turnover of Rs 255.3 million, followed by City Hotel with Rs 248.6 million and Ankhu Khola Hydropower with Rs 226.4 million.
