KATHMANDU, March 17: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plummeted by 10.14 points to close at 2,704.70 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,714.85 points, initially lost 13 points in the first 20 minutes and escalated to the day’s high at 2,732.51 points within the first hour. The market however went to a straight fall and hit the day’s low at 2,700.18 points when only eight minutes of trading time was left. In any case, the market managed to recover more than four points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Nepal logs 3,540 cases and 32 deaths on Sunday

Only four groups added in their market values, while manufacturing and processing gained the highest of 32.70 points. Among the losers, the trading index shedded the largest of 145.86 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also lost 0.95 points. Daily turnover amount further decreased to Rs 5.40 billion from Rs 6.83 billion on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, only 87 were gainers while 144 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 439.36 million.
Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank lost the largest of 5.41 percent of its market value. Rapti Hydro and General Construction Limited witnessed a gain of 9.86 percent in its market value, the highest of all.
