KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal's hopes of qualifying for the AFC U-19 Championship received a big blow on Tuesday after it faced second defeat in the qualifiers with a 3-0 defeat against Jordan on the last match of Group E played at the Samen All Aemeh Stadium in Iran.

The defeat put Nepal at the bottom of the four-team qualifiers.Nepal also finished the tournament winless. Nepal conceded goals in the seventh, 14th and 90th minute against Jordan.

Nepal finished with one point after a 1-1 draw against Kuwait on Sunday. In the opener, Nepal had faced a humiliating 10-O defeat at the hands of host Iran.

Nepal's realistic chance of making into second round even as the best runner-up had ended before the match against Jordan since Nepal required a huge-margin win in the last match and wish for favorable outcome during the match between Iran and Kuwait scheduled later tonight (Tuesday).

With a match in hand, Iran has six points followed by four points of Kuwait. Similarly, Jordan ended with three points.

The winner of all 10 groups and the best five runners-up will book a place for the final round to be played next year in Bahrain.

However, the slot for runner-up teams may reach six if Bahrain secures top finish in the qualifiers.
