Bangladesh facing New Zealand today

Before the group stage, Nepal will play two warm-up matches -- first against Pakistan on January 23 and second against Sri Lanka on January 25.
Altogether 16 teams are competing in the tournament. Defending champion South Africa, host Bangladesh, Scotland and Namibia are placed in Group A. Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Canada are in Group B while England, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Fiji in Group C. Group D consists of Nepal, New Zealand, Australia and India.
As per the ICC, the world cup will be held across eight venues in four Bangladeshi cities -- Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Dhaka and Sylhet. Altogether 48 matches will be played in the venues. The tournament will open with the match between defending champion South Africa and host Bangladesh at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong.
"The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup is an event which provides talented youngsters an early taste of international cricket in a global setting. Countless players have come through this event, and emerged shortly afterwards on to the international arena," ICC General Manager, Geoff Allardice, said while announcing the schedule.
"It is at this tournament that the players also receive important education on topics such anti-doping and anti-corruption, which provides them a head start on the challenges that lie ahead for professional sportsmen," he added.
"Bangladesh has staged a number of ICC events in the past and all these have been hugely successful because of the passionate and enthusiastic crowds as well as high quality playing facilities."
As per the event format, the 16 sides have been equally divided into four groups of four each, with the top two from each group progressing to the Super League stage and the bottom two to feature in the Plate Championship.
Nepal to prepare in India
Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Uttam Karmacharya informed that the Nepali team will travel to India to prepare for the U-19 World Cup.
Karmacharya said that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is set to arrange the tour for Nepal prior to the world cup.
"The ACC is planning to arrange the tour for India for the Nepali U-19 team," informed Karmcharya. He, however, said that if the ACC fails then CAN will itself arrange the tour.
Nepali youth team spent two weeks in New Delhi before the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers held in Malaysia from October 14 to 22. Nepal claimed the title of the qualifiers and booked ticket for the finals in Bangladesh.
Currently, 22 players are in the closed-camp training for the world cup as the players got selected through selection event.
