During the four-day Festival organized by the Academy in collaboration with Bookworm Trust and sponsored by Ncell, intensive discussions would be held on some 40 issues ranging from literature to language and journalism.[break]
The Festival was inaugurated jointly by Chancellor of Nepal Academy Bairagi Kainla, literati Dr Bhruv Chandra Gautam and Durga Lal Shrestha. Geeta Keshari and Hirandya Kumar Pathak performed music in the inaugural.
Addressing the Festival, literary critic Dr Abhi Subedi said the human has been feeble day by day but the literature on this was inadequate.
The printing and publications begun at Benares and Darjeeling 100 years back has impacted a lot in Nepali literature, he said, adding that only one tool could not describe the literature. So, corollary discourse and description was needed, he stressed.
Chancellor Kaina expressed confidence that the thorough discussions on literature and books during the Festival would help promote Nepali literature.
Corporate Manager of the Ncell Sanju Koirala said the company sponsored the Festival in order to contribute to promoting and developing Nepali literature.
Festival Director Ajit Baral said such Festival begun last year would continue in the years ahead.
Renowned literati from India have participated in the Festival.
The Nepal Academy has also organized book exhibition as part of the Festival.
Books by various writers would be released during the Festival.
