Speaking with Republica, the minister said the country's industry sector has been reeling through crisis after the blockade. "The country is losing Rs 2 billion everyday as the blockade has been obstructing import of raw material and other commodities."
The loss has been calculated based on information provided by private industries, the minister said.
The industries have been paying Rs 2 billion as haltage by the containers carrying goods, workers' wages and banks loans, among other.
When asked about the government's initiatives to operate the closed industries and corporations, the minister said that privatization was not an option. "We had thought about the privatization of the industries and corporations, and concluded that this will not generate a long term impact."
"Many private industries have not operated, not because they can't but they don't want," the minister added.
