NEA power theft control team members beaten up

KALAIYA, Jan. 4: Members of a team deputed from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to check power leakage were beaten up by villagers in the district.



The NEA had mobilized a 50-member team including 25 NEA staff and 25 police personnel to monitor and check power leakage in various VDCs of the district.



The team was returning back after arresting 16 persons found stealing electricity in Pipradi, Gamhariya, Kalaiya and Dhuraha villages when it came under attack of local villagers.



The villagers surrounding the vehicles carrying the team members, physical assaulted the members including police personnel and released the arrested 16.



Police head constable Sunil Pandey, Khusi Lal Chaudhary of Armed Police Force and NEA staff Gopi Chaudhary were injured in the incident.
