KATHMANDU, April 15: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) clarified that strong winds and adverse weather conditions, not load-shedding, caused recent power outages in some areas.

In a press release, the NEA stated that unfavorable weather led to temporary disruptions in power supply and urged the public not to confuse these with scheduled power cuts. The authority condemned what it called exaggerated and misleading claims on social media labeling the outages as load-shedding.

“We have taken serious note of the exaggerated and misleading statements on social media that describe short-term electricity disruptions-caused by strong winds and pre-monsoon weather in various parts of the country-as load-shedding,” the NEA said.

The NEA also said that its distribution centers have worked around the clock to restore electricity in affected areas. It confirmed that most of the affected locations have already regained power.
