NCP parliamentarians await CIAA's chief's decision

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The parliamentarians of Nepal Communist Party are in awaiting Raj Narayan Pathak, the Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority's resignation following his alleged involvement in a Rs. 7.6 million rupees corruption case.

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The parliamentarians of Nepal Communist Party are awaiting Raj Narayan Pathak, the Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority's resignation following his alleged involvement in a Rs. 7.6 million rupees corruption case.



With the commissioner pulled into a corruption case, parliamentarian Yogesh Bhattarai said that Pathak needed to resign on moral grounds. "He's into a debate and he should resign on moral grounds and allow the CIAA to investigate into the case," Bhattarai said.

"However, if he doesn't do so, we will have to use rights as parliamentarians. At the moment, we are at a 'wait-and-watch' situation," Bhattarai said.  


Under Article 101 of the constitution, parliamentarians can impeach chiefs of constitutional bodies if they are found to have compromised their ethics.
