KATHMANDU, Feb 5 : The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Education & Sports Committee has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support and endorse major sports, fitness, and esports events in Nepal. The agreement, signed in the presence of NCC President Kamlesh Agrawal and Senior Vice President Deepak Malhotra, marks a significant step toward strengthening Nepal’s esports ecosystem, NCC said in a press release.
Under the MoU, NCC will extend its support to three key events, each planned for five consecutive editions. The 5th Nepal Esports Championship & Expo 2025, organized by the Nepal Esports Association (NESA), will take place in April and serve as a platform for national and international gamers, game developers, and industry leaders. The event will feature competitive gaming in multiple categories, an expo showcasing advancements in the gaming industry, and workshops on game development, esports careers, and the digital entertainment sector, the press release.
Nepali journalists trained on esports reporting
The 2nd Nepal Sports Conclave 2025, scheduled for April, will be jointly organized by the Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) and MICE International Service. This conclave will focus on policy discussions, opportunities, and challenges in Nepal’s esports sector, bringing together government officials, sports federations, industry experts, and athletes. It will feature panel discussions, keynote speeches, and networking sessions to promote collaboration and policy formulation in the sports domain.
Additionally, the 2nd Nepal Sports & Fitness Expo 2025 will be held in June at Bhrikutimandap, showcasing innovations and trends in the fitness and sports industry. Organized by MICE International Service, the expo will provide a platform for professionals and businesses in fitness equipment, sports apparel, nutrition, and wellness services. Live demonstrations, interactive workshops, and expert talks will be part of the event, aiming to engage fitness enthusiasts and industry leaders alike, the press release further mentioned.
Speaking at the signing event, NCC Education & Sports Committee Chairperson Rupak Rajbanshi highlighted the importance of fostering a robust sports and fitness industry in Nepal. NESA President Suraj Dangol emphasized the growing potential of esports in Nepal, while NSJF Board Member Niranjan Rajbanshi reiterated the role of sports journalism in shaping policies and discussions. Deepak Thapa, Managing Director of MICE International Service, stressed the importance of uniting stakeholders to develop Nepal’s sports industry sustainably.
The three-year collaboration underscores NCC’s commitment to promoting sports, fitness, and esports in Nepal, with the endorsed events expected to attract national and international participation. According to the NCC, this initiative is anticipated to enhance Nepal’s esports industry and contribute to its economy by fostering global engagement and investment in the sector.
